With a budget of only $250,000Candy Corn became a surprising hit, receiving a national theatrical release by Epic Pictures and an international Blu-ray and VOD release from Sony Pictures Home Video. Candy Corn was on Amazon's and iTunes' Bestsellers list nearly two months after its release.

In 2015 Josh Hasty was hired by Rob Zombie to direct and edit a feature-length documentary on the making of RZ's next film, 31. The documentary took over a year to shoot and covers the entire filmmaking process from preproduction through the end of production. Rob Zombie and his producers were so pleased with Josh Hasty's job on the documentary that they let him edit the entire thing, a first in Rob Zombie's career. It was released in theaters nationwide alongside 31 before it was made available as a second disc with the Lionsgate release of "31" on Bluray and DVD in stores worldwide. Josh edited a five-hour version of the documentary, which, after much effort, he and Rob Zombie eventually forged into a limited release on VOD. Critics praised Josh Hasty's work, and Forbes called it an "Insightful, comprehensive and well-crafted documentary. Worth the purchase of 31."
